Foundations Our MUA Members Love

A good foundation is so hard to find. I don't think I have ever found one that I LOVE; most of them look too cakey on me, or end up clumping after a few hours of wear. However, after hearing from our members, I do think that my problem is the lack of skin prep and maybe not the foundation. Anyways, I have a go-to product for every other type of makeup: Too Faced "Better Than Sex" mascara, Tarte "Amazonian Clay" blush or Urban Decay's "Naked2 Basics" eyeshadow pallette . But, there just isn't a tried and true foundation for me yet! Who better to ask than the pros themselves on which ones to try!

(P.S. YEG- This blog is also a great resource to find a MUA for your next event- wedding, grad, photoshoot, holiday party, or even just a night out with the girls!)

My favourite foundation for a dewy look is Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, it has a nice glow and silky smooth so it doesn’t settle into dry skin. The Frankie Rose foundation is the best for oily skin and I love Mac Studio Fix for a full coverage look for normal skin types!

Currently I have two favourite foundations. I have really dry skin. I love the L’Oréal Pro Glow foundation right now a lot because it gives a medium amount of coverage and the finish is natural. It doesn’t make your skin cakey but you can build it up if you are looking for more coverage. It’s also drugstore so you cannot go wrong with the price. My second one is the Too Faced Born This Way foundation. I use this when I am looking for a full glam makeup look. It’s medium to full coverage but melts into the skin beautifully. I never feel dry with this foundation.

In my kit I have 2 foundation sets Phoera and Smashbox.

Phoera is a full coverage foundation that's great for all skin types. Smashbox I love as well, it blends seamlessly and has a broad range of shades and is buildable for coverage. Smashbox is also good for all skin types. To make your foundation perform at its highest level your skin care routine BEFORE you use your foundation is what matters most! A good morning/ evening moisturizer cleanser routine and a primer for your skin type will ultimately take your foundation from amateur to pro!

I use the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation in my kit, because it has an amazing shade range and it’s perfect for all skin types. It has medium to full buildable coverage, with a very skin-like natural matte finish for a flawless but not cakey look. I love using a moisturizing primer underneath to give it a little glow. It’s perfect for those who are looking for a long lasting, flawless finish that’s perfect for photography.

Nars Sheer Glow is definitely my favourite foundation! It’s really good for dry/normal skin types. It’s perfect for creating that effortless natural glow on the skin without looking too thick!
