Meet Local Beauty Member

Marlene Phann Owner & Operator of

Mar.Velous Beauty

@mar.velous_beauty

Marlene is not only a Local Beauty member, my personal nail tech and my friend, but she is also my neighbour! Well, she used to live across the street from me; however, she's still is within walking distance, so I still call her my neighbour. Marlene has recently left nail artistry and now offers laser hair removal/photo facials (PS. I've only had two laser hair removal sessions on my underarms and there's barely any hair left.), microneedling and microdermabrasion.

This girl legit gets gitty when she hears about the

results from her work. We should all be more like Marlene and get gitty from our work, don't you think? Loving what you do, on top of having a sense of pride and enthusiasm, makes work feel less like work! This also lets Marlene's clients know that they are in good hands. She genuinely cares about providing a quality service- at an affordable price too!

Marlene is also a momma to three kiddos- what's your secret, Marlene?! Is it the photofacials.... #Smokeshow

Q&A

How did you get into the beauty industry? How long have you been in it?

I started learning how to do nails because I was always disappointed with the services I was getting in the salon. Eventually I started doing friends and family’s and then branched out to making it a part time job and taking on clients. I fell in love and I’ve now been in the industry for “officially” 5 years now and I can’t believe that my career started because I just wanted to give myself better service.

What are your goals for 2020? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Well I’ve finally taken on my career full time and I’ve added new services that I can’t wait to continue to offer clients. I would also like to continue to add more services and just continue to grow.

Other than your business, what is something else that you are passionate about?

I recently learned that life is too short. After becoming self employed I realized that I just want to be happy and I want those around me to be happy. I’m not sure if that would be a passion, but I’m working on doing and finding things that gives me positive energy.

How do you juggle being a mom and a business owner? How do you stay organized?

Honestly, I am just winging it haha. Some days are harder then others, but I’ve got a pretty good group of little people. Calendars save me (when I remember to input everything), but I find it’s all about scheduling and making time to spend with your loved ones.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

I never give up and am always determined to learn new things. I’ll never do anything without researching the crap of it, making sure my heart is in it and that it is right for me. My weakness is I am an over thinker, which limits me from completely finishing tasks and sometimes gets the best of me. But because of my strength I somehow end up pushing myself and pulling through.

Marlene- thanks for taking the time to answer my questions! I am so happy our paths have crossed. You're an amazing Momma AND business owner- you're doing it all and that truly inspires me.

Pssssst. Follow my girl up for laser hair removal promos! She runs them often and I'm seriously going to be doing my whole body- it's that good! Scroll down to see the look I'm going for... 😉
